Mr

CITISKATE TOOK ME FROM LEVEL 1 ("Stopping
methods
include pedestrians, skin loss and gravity" ) TO A LEVEL 4

WERE PATIENT AND APPROACHABLE TO THE POINT
THAT I HAVE SIGNED UP FOR A SECOND COURSE
FEATURING.SLALOM AND THE BARREL ROLL...

IT ON!

rental skates; you can then pay your deposit by debit or credit card. (£60 to £75 depending on whether you are renting) Your transaction is handled by Worldpay
and is 100% secure.
Format
Each evening session will be divided into four groups with one instructor
per group (plus an extra 'floating' instructor in the beginners group). So a total of FIVE qualified
instructors. No one else in the UK offers this! This also allows friends
of differing ability level to sign up to the same class. The
'levels' are:
Absolute beginners,
post-beginners,
lower-intermediates
and upper-intermediates:
LEVEL 1
As an absolute beginner you will learn correct skate set-up and falling(!),
how to get up (very useful!), balance and basic striding (skating), stopping
which includes heel braking and also the A-frame stop. Citiskate instructors
are particularly dedicated to building the confidence of skaters in this
group; and there will be two of them to help!
LEVEL 2
Post-beginners As above plus moves onto intermediate
level stopping, turning, transitions, better and more graceful
gliding as well as some beginners level tricks, some speed moves...and
some backwards.
LEVEL 3
Lower-intermediate skaters As above plus skaters can
also expect to cover faster striding and stopping techniques such as intermediate
speed skating and the T-stop. Backward skating is
comprehensively explained. Intermediate
level tricks are also covered.
LEVEL 4
Upper-intermediate skaters usually have considerable
skating experience and/or some ski or ice skating related knowledge. Note
that this group covers everything the other three do but does so at a
faster pace. The class features: advanced
level tricks, slalom and, the real reason we all skate, exhibition stuff!
NOTE: This group also has a park session included; this includes speed
skating, hills, drains / bad surface management and street skating!
All of which are set to get you ready for the London Friday
Night Skate, Rollerstroll and Easy peasy skate
I am not sure of my level!
We decide on exact groups on the day (but please give us a rough idea on your booking form)

A note about falling over and surfaces
Citiskate recommend full protective gear: wrist, knee and elbow pads together with a bike or skate helmet. However, these are not compulsory. See our London skate shop section for a list of retailers.
One massive advantage of our sessions at Play On Sports is the fibre-bonded flooring which is great to glide on but far better than tarmac to fall on!
